One of my favorite things about the holiday season is all of the music. I enjoy a wide variety of Christmas music from artists such as The Carpenters, The Beach Boys, Elvis Presley, and even the music of Vince Guaraldi from A Charlie Brown Christmas. There will always be those classics, but sometimes I need a little variety to my holiday soundtrack. More rock in my snowball if that makes sense. Here are some songs to kick out those holiday blues.
“Yule Shoot Your Eye Out” by Fall Out Boy
Honestly, the acoustic guitar in this song is what keeps bringing me back. The lyrics are catchy too.
“Christmastime” by The Smashing Pumpkins
Spend your Christmas with this calm song from another great band.
“I Won’t Be Home For Christmas” by Blink-182
This song came out when I was in high school. I couldn’t believe how funny the lyrics were and still are.
“Ex-Miss” by New Found Glory
I’m always down for some pop punk from the these guys. This holiday song is a fun one.
“Last Christmas” by Jimmy Eat World
This cover of the 80s pop band, Wham!, is an energetic one. It has that unique sound that Jimmy Eat World has become known for.
“O Holy Night” by Weezer
It was hard to choose a Christmas song from these guys since they have so many good ones. The guitar solo in this one gets me everytime.
“God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” by Bright Eyes
Bright Eyes has an entire Christmas album to choose from so this was a tough decision. The sound in this song is unique. It has a dreary sound about an uplifting event. I recommend the entire album.
“Christmas Medley (Live)” by Foo Fighters
Dave and the gang kill it with this incredible medley that starts off with a familiar The Colour and the Shape song and closes with a cheerful cover of a classic theme song. Good grief it’s good!
Pretty much every one of these are on my Holiday playlist!
