Album of the Week – Concrete and Gold

Artist: Foo Fighters

Released: 2017

Concrete and Gold is a solid album by Foo Fighters. The band shows no signs of aging with their ninth studio album. Dave Grohl (lead vocals/guitar) has said that the album is about hope and desperation in America. In my opinion the flowing tracks of the album resemble Abbey Road by The Beatles while the song “Concrete and Gold” has a Pink Floyd sound to it.

The album features plenty of guest musicians lending their talent such as:

Justin Timberlake

Shawn Stockman (Boyz II Men)

Inara George

Alison Mosshart aka: Baby Ruthless

Dave Koz

Paul McCartney

and many others

Here is an animated version of Dave Grohl discussing how the album was made.

With any good album it is hard to choose which songs to share. The following songs are just a sample of how epic the album sounds.

“Sunday Rain” does things a little different from the other songs. It features Taylor Hawkins on lead vocals and has Paul McCartney on the drums. McCartney’s steady drum beat hearkens back to the days when he was with The Beatles and Wings.
